L appli est en anglais c est vraiment dommage sinon le concept est bien

Cest bon pour la culture générale, aprés cest en anglais donc pas accessible à tous.

Je partage les précédents avis: app en anglais! Gratuite, je la garde en espérant une MAJ qui me permettra de tout comprendre! Pas accessible à tous donc! Dommage...

Jai téléchargé cette application car dans le descriptif il est mentionné quelle est en plusieurs langues dont le français. Alors que ce nest pas le cas.

Pour les francophones aucun intérêt❗️

Certes il ny a pas le français (en anglais ça permet de réviser ; ) mais ça reste une bonne appli gratuite qui recense les faits historiques de la journée.

Pas dévénements concernant la France ou lEurope ( très peu ) Utile que pour les Yankees ! Ajoutez une base de donnée française svp les devs

Les nouvelles concernent les anglais, et on ne peut pas les enlever pour avoir simplement la date du jour.

Sunrise and Sunset times are a nice extra feature.

I downloaded This app so I could look at each day and learn about major events that happened in history. Unfortunately, very few of the headlines are of a positive nature. You will see lots of entries like “Hitler takes Power….” and “Hundreds killed in…”, but very few “First space flight…” or “Pulitzer Prize awarded to…” It seems this app skews toward sensationalized, negative, depressing, horrific events. But then again, maybe human history is all about death and destruction, with a sprinkle of highlights. Either way, I no longer want to start each day with a dose of depressing.

I just deleted this app. The most recent dates I have seen are 2017. Nothing later. Is the app no longer updating?

I enjoy this app immensely - yet the ability to share on social media has been removed eliminating the ability to share quickly. I’d give it stars if they brought that back - please.

VERY HELPFUL APP

Great way to start each day. The links to Wikipedia articles for each item are an excellent feature. One star deducted for occasional factual errors (see below), and use of obscure units of measure, such as Mw fot earthquake intensity. Error example: 20 January 1953 says Eisenhower was the first US Presidenr inaugurated on 20 January in accordance with the 20th Amendment. Not true. The 20th Amendment was ratified in 1933, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt was inaugurated for his second term on 20 January 1937.

Instead of me reviewing this app, let it speak for itself. Here are some “events” that happened on this day that this app chose to “recall” for me. App lets you copy paste them so here’s a preview for you, these were at the top of the list: ”17.11.2013 – Fifty people are killed when Tatarstan Airlines Flight 363 crashes at Kazan Airport, Russia. 17.11.2012 – At least 50 schoolchildren are killed in an accident at a railway crossing near Manfalut, Egypt. 17.11.2000 – A catastrophic landslide in Log pod Mangartom, Slovenia, kills seven, and causes millions of SIT of damage. It is one of the worst catastrophes in Slovenia in the past 100 years. 17.11.1997 – In Luxor, Egypt, 62 people are killed by six Islamic militants outside the Temple of Hatshepsut, known as Luxor massacre.” The list is long and does have some interesting events like: “17.11.1947 – American scientists John Bardeen and Walter Houser Brattain observe the basic principles of the transistor, a key element for the electronics revolution of the 20th century.” Most of the “events”, however, have to do with catastrophes, war-related deaths, massacres, accidents and destruction. Is that supposed to be entertaining or insightful? Isn’t it enough that we already have News channels for this sort of thing? To fill yourself up with negativity in such an unproductive way - without context or purpose is very unhealthy. What possible purpose could it serve to inform me that in 2012 “At least 50 schoolchildren are killed in an accident” at some railway crossing in Egypt? Am I supposed to listen to my music or eat lunch while reading this casually? Why not instead focus on the good/positive things such as scientific discoveries, art, music, literature... things that shaped and inspired the world in *positive* ways? Surely there are plenty on this day, every day. Such events inspire positive thinking throughout the day and make us feel more positive about our own affairs. As Humans we have a strong tendency to relate easily to the suffering and demise of other members of our own species, in fact this is what’s known as Empathy. To take advantage of this susceptibility and build a whole app to exploit it, well that’s just low.

This app gives you everything that happens on this day in history which I compare it to a radio station that has a almanac in the morning. Wish they also gave the birthday of famous people born on this day.

Once I figured it out, the feature that allows one to “google” the event to learn more detail is an invaluable history teacher!

It is fun to use this app & gain a historical perspective about events that happened a year; a decade; or much further back in time.

I think it would be interesting if there was a possibility of navigating though days more easily than going back and forth day by day. Also I think it could have an option to see the most important facts of the day.

Can you please update your app icon? It feels like I’m in 2010 when I look at it. Also a better variety of facts!

Love waking up and finding out what happened on today’s date long ago. Sometimes I know what transpired on today’s date, other times it’s all new to me. Great app!

I had this app for about 2 wks & deleted it. It was mostly a list of wars, crashes & accidents. How about some fun facts or interesting little known info??? It was instead a depressing litany of people being crappy to each other. It is a part of history but jeez, how about some soul inspiring happy moments? Or maybe during black history or women’s history months, focusing on that. Just really hated reading lists of how many peeps died on this date for whatever reason.

so many of the years chronicled are lists of war and death. Is this how we measure time? Please continue to devote space for bookmarks to joy, peace, discovery, and the remarkable leaps mankind has/is making. ty

Is this app produced by the military? This would be a good educational history app if it was not solely focused on tragedies and war related events. How about the inclusion of some of the wonderful things that have happened in history? The wonderful things are the things that helped get us to where we are and also helped us overcome some of the tragedies that this app is fixated on. This app seems to be more concerned with spreading fear instead of facts.

Interesting points in history but mostly focused on negative events of mass killings and war events.

It makes a good entertainment while on line or at the DMV. A novel way to access Wikipedia. It may be more interesting if you can select directly a date instead of the one by one days. Thank you

Please put some good news in the app. Dislike the clips on who killed who every day. Other than that it’s a great app!

Reading the historical events I lose myself and can spend longer than I intend but it is fascinating to research some topics.

This is a decent app. Most of the reviews have good suggestions. My biggest annoyance is that I cannot enter a specific date (or at least I can’t figure out how). You can scroll back and forth one day at a time - but to look at days farther than a few weeks away would be incredibly tedious. I want to enter any date and get results back for that date. Look at “dayoftheweek.org” for more statistical ideas.

The icon for the app does not reflect the current date-Reflects & stays at the date that the app was purchased. Although when app is opened up the correct day does pop up which I find a bit annoying & tacky, especially since it is not that hard to fix this inconsistency.

A very interesting app that shows ‘this day in history’. Love it!

I literally use this every day. I use it to know which day it is for my 365 project and to know sunrise and sunset times. The little history nuggets are also nice.

Great reminder of interesting facts

Few people appreciate human history because they are completely unaware of the events that have shaped our world. This app gives you a fascinating, daily glimpse into compelling historical events. Events which are as important now as they were back then. Society cannot improve if you don't understand the past.

I am really enjoying this app and all the information provided, especially the extended information from Wikipedia and other sources. I am spreading the word!

The app should have a better way to access other dates than backward and forward arrows. Very informative, but very versatile.

Runs OK but message from apps says it needs to be updated to keep phone from slowing. Definitely needs this update.

I was really looking forward to this app but 80 percent of the things they share have to do with deaths of some form or other whether it be disasters, wars or terrorism. That stuff is interesting but come up with more positive stuff to equal things out- I know it's out there.

I'm a Jeopardy fanatic so reading this daily is a great way to learn new things. I always hated history but this makes it so much more fun than in school.

I enjoy reading what has occurred on each day in history, although I would like to see more recent historical events of the day listed also. This app is a treasure trove for any trivia buff.

Its a nice app, but i have a recommendation. We should be able to input our own information so that it would show up in the future.

I've learned things I never knew about with this app. It's nice that it links to Wikipedia for details of today's happenings in history. It works great.
